Elevate your home’s exterior with black paint colour Whether your home has a contemporary, traditional or rustic aesthetic, a touch of black makes a bold visual statement. Painting a home exterior in black is considerably more daring but results in a powerful visual statement. Here are some tips for using black to elevate your exterior in big and small ways:
Harmonize your colours and finishes. Painting with black may seem overwhelming, but the right amount can bring the perfect contrast to details and even adds an elegant touch. The key to incorporating black is to ensure it is balanced, so pay attention to the entire composition, balancing heavier and darker finishes with lighter hues and natural materials such as wood and stone. It’s also important to consider your homes’ surroundings – mother nature’s green foliage and lush landscaping provides natural balance and contrasts beautifully paired with black.
Highlight your home’s natural beauty. One of the best places to incorporate a strong hue like black is on your homes’ architectural details. Archways, framing, trim, windows, shutters and pillars are ideal places to consider black paint. These elements add a lot of character and make every home unique, so don’t be afraid to enhance them.
And finally – don’t forget about the door. Your front, side and backyard doors are key focal points that have a big impact. A fresh coat of black paint – whether it’s Colonial Williamsburg’s Mopboard Black CW-680, a slightly off-black like Iron Mountain 2134-30 or one of my personal favourites, Black Satin 2131-10, a classic black door will always add depth and dimension.
