Biking through the streets of Halton Hills, a cyclist couple envisioned themselves in a location with the convenience of the city balanced with the tranquility of the countryside. They admired the design of two homes on one street, set on the top of a ravine. They found out that Rockhaven Homeshad built both. Soon afterwards, they had their first meeting with the owners of the company, Albertand Jesse Grin.
The resulting home has a subtle but elegant footprint and blends with other homes in the neighbourhood. It opens to an expansive foyer, an open-concept kitchen/dining room and a great room with floor-to-ceiling windows. She got that with the simple lines of the Craftsman exterior that combines stone, brick and board and batten. High, vaulted ceilings create drama in the great room and accentuate the luscious vista. The owner’s taste in décor is simple and elegant with a classic grey, white and black colour scheme.
In the kitchen, a large working island is surrounded by spacious dark kitchen cabinets from AyA Kitchensand a walk-in pantry. Brass-toned hardware by Northfield Trim and Door Inc.adds a modern finish.
The stairway, installed by Stairworks, is wider than a standard staircase so the family can carry bikes up from the basement.
The master bedroom has his-and-hers closet space on either side of the spacious room with a stunning view of the back gardens. After rugged days of cycling, the couple enjoy the luxury of an oversize shower in their en suite. Granite countertops and gleaming tiles complete the soothing spa-like space.
Two more bedrooms divided by a lounging space are found in the lower level, which has a spectacular walkout to the gardens.
A synergy between client and builder resulted in the perfect home for this active family. They now enjoy the convenience of the city and the tranquility of a country-like setting.
