Every year, generous homeowners in Southern Georgian Bay open their doors for the always-sold-out Collingwood Holiday House Tour. Designers and decorators step up and spend countless hours decking each hall to the nines. The event in 2017 raised more than $30,000 with proceeds going to the Canadian Shelter Foundation, including My Friend's House and other local charities. OUR HOMES is a proud partner and sponsor of this annual event, put on by Royal LePage Locations North. Here we showcase the seven homes from the 2017 tour:
HOMEOWNER KAREN WILLISON
SUPPLIER DOVETAIL INTERIORS
VOLUNTEERS WENDY BOYD, SUSAN CUDA, KATHY FULFORD, BILL GULOIEN, CASSIDY KENNEDY AND JACQUELINE LANE
A blazing fire, fur throws, arrangements full of greenery, candles, hot chocolate and popcorn filled this home, inside and out. Tricia Jeffery created an atmosphere that had each visitor wanting to curl up by the fire and open presents on Christmas morning. The stairs at the front entrance leading to the lower level were lined with twinkling light-filled garland. The carpet runner was a tongue-in-cheek salute to Santa’s reindeers – helping to amp up the Christmas feel in this Fan Favourite home.
DESIGNERS KRISTEN VERMEULEN AND TRACEY GERSCHWILER
HOMEOWNERS TRACEY AND ROBERT GERSCHWILER
SPONSOR GERSCHWILER BUILDING INC.
SUPPLIERS KRISTEN VERMEULEN DESIGN, TRACEY GERSCHWILER, STEF RICHARDSON (LOKAL DIGS)
VOLUNTEERS ABBY GERSCHWILER, BROOKE GERSCHWILER, ROBERT GERSCHWILER, STEF RICHARDSON AND MITCH WHITTON
This modern homestead was decorated with unadorned trees covered with white lights. The trees were placed together in groups with fresh evergreens in vintage metal buckets. A distressed harvest table in the kitchen does double duty as a place to prepare the meal and eat. Natural wood trim, concrete heated floors and open space all give this home room for children to play and lots of family to gather for the holidays.
HOMEOWNERS FREDENE PLOUFFE-JOYCE AND ART JOYCE
SUPPLIERS CATHERINE STAPLES INTERIORS, STREET’S FLOWER SHOP, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK
VOLUNTEERS KELSEY BULLOCK, STEPHANIE FRYER, GEORGETTE MCCULLOCH AND FREDENE PLOUFFE-JOYCE
The homeowners, friends of Catherine Staples, had no idea Catherine would decorate this home from top to bottom. Catherine brought in truckloads of furniture and accessories to decorate this weekend retreat. The homeowners arrived the night before the Tour and walked into the home of their dreams done in Catherine’s signature style. Their only question, after the shock of seeing this gorgeous space, was, does it get to stay like this after the tour?!
HOMEOWNERS BRONWYN AND LACHLAN MACLEAN
SPONSORS ANITA HEARN AND DOUG BEAUMONT (HEARN BEAUMONT GROUP, ROYAL LEPAGE LOCATIONS NORTH)
SUPPLIER VAN ALLAN DESIGN CENTRE
VOLUNTEERS CASS ALLAN, MICHELE ALLAN-GOLDS, STEPHANIE BERTRAM, LINDI GREEN, BRONWYN MACLEAN AND WHITNEY TURNER
A globetrotting family fell in love with this Collingwood beauty and have been working with Sharon Allan to bring it back to the sophisticated treasure it once was. Sharon created a restrained, laid back holiday feel. The large tree in the living room had a blue colour palette that was drawn from the sofa and the triptych on the wall by Don Kilby. Under the tree are presents wrapped in maps that echo the fragmented map of the world in the dining room. Fresh boughs were carefully placed for a touch of colour. This home was ready for a black tie New Year’s party.
HOMEOWNERS VINCE AND JOSIE GRECO
SPONSOR AMP CHAMP, SILKE, CHRISTOF AND WILHELM BOKER
SUPPLIER DÉCOR DESIGN
VOLUNTEERS BILL BOKER, CHRISTOF BOKER, SILKE BOKER, SHERRY BROWN AND BRENDA SCOTT
Josie Greco’s artwork inspired the decorating by Cindy McMullin of Décor Design. Josie’s deer and birch-tree art guided Cindy’s choices. Coming through its front door was like a lovely walk in a snow-covered forest. Red was the accent colour used in plaids, flowers, ribbons, blankets and dishes.
HOMEOWNERS KATHERINE AND MARIO ARCARO
SPONSOR MARTHA WHITTON (ROYAL LEPAGE LOCATIONS NORTH)
VOLUNTEERS FAD INC. STAFF MEMBERS
A natural arrangement at the front door of grapevine, greenery and pinecones took your eyes up as it gently twisted and climbed to the roof of the porch. Inside, Katherine’s favourite colour, mauve, was used in the holiday decorations. The tree was filled with large mauve Christmas balls, fresh roses, silver poinsettias and pinecones. Another grapevine arrangement twisted its way through the dining room light fixture. Cream roses peeked out and were kept fresh in water-filled vials. These thoughtful arrangements were done by Elaine Kettlewell, who has a fresh approach to working with flowers and used her magic to enhance the beautifully decorated home, owned by FAD Inc. designer Katherine Arcaro.
DESIGNER LUCIA CRUPI (LUCIA CRUPI DESIGNS)
HOMEOWNER PAT WILLIAMSON (JOSEPH LAWRENCE HOUSE B&B)
VOLUNTEERS CATHERINE BROWN, ELAINE KELLY, DIANNE POST, ALICIA SCHRADER, TEA VON TEICHMAN AND ANDREA WILSON
The welcome was warm on a chilly day. Cedar swags fastened to the metal fence and a huge wreath signalled the festive season at this historic Victorian brick home, known locally as the Joseph Lawrence House Bed & Breakfast. Everyone who came through the door enjoyed little treats and carols played on the piano before touring each room, beautifully decorated with greenery by Lucia Crupi.
