Spring 2019 // Cabinetree's expert designers and craftsmen fashion all styles of cabinetry.

Our Homes Peterborough Spring 2019A version of this article originally appeared in the Spring 2019 issue of   OUR HOMES Peterborough Kawartha Lakes Cobourg Durham Region Port Hope, p.30. Find Find local businesses in our Peterborough directory.

THE PLACE: In its dual purpose shop on the south side of Peterborough, Cabinetree showcases the best of innovative kitchen design and custom cabinetry. “We have our retail showroom where we have examples of the cabinets that we build, along with all the samples of woods and finishes that we provide,” says president Dan Stanford. Most of the building is dedicated to manufacturing. “We build our own cabinets here, complete from top to bottom, which gives us the flexibility to do many styles, many colours and make exactly what a customer might want in their kitchen.”
PRODUCTS: Cabinetree manufactures everything from store fixtures and components to kitchen cabinets for high-volume facilities such as apartment buildings, where price points are very tight. That experience enables the company to build kitchens at a reasonable cost for folks on a budget. Much of its work is for individual homeowners, often high-end projects for people who have particular needs. “We have custom homebuilders that simply send their customers in and we work for them right from there all the way through,” says Dan.
STYLE: “We have three very talented designers here who keep us close to the edge of style trends and colours,” he says. “Generally speaking, Peterborough clients are a little more conservative in their tastes than clients that we might see in a larger urban market. But we can provide anything from quite modern all the way through to a very traditional looking product.”
WHAT’S HOT: “For the last few years, shaker-style cabinets have been the most popular segment going. White remains our most popular colour although we do have various shades of white. Grey is still very hot,” Dan says.
FAVOURITES: “Some of the projects that we do are for architects or people who have really worked through the design,” he says. “Fulfilling their vision has been a very big part of what I enjoy most in our business.”
