What makes Tapestry Décor unique? We offer full interior design services for new builds and renovations. We also install drapery and add accessories to an existing space. No matter what the project, we oversee every detail.

What’s your design philosophy? My design philosophy is based on the belief that a well-designed space should embody a design that is timeless yet striking. It’s unique, luxurious, functional, livable, comfortable and most importantly, reflects the client and is welcoming.

What is your favourite design element? I like to accessorize a home with a client’s meaningful pieces of art or accessories in a way that tells their story and is personal to their home. There are also never enough pillows!

Tony Gatti & Joe Gatti of The Gatti Group Corp.TONY GATTI & JOE GATTI

What does The Gatti Group offer? We are a full-service custom builder and renovator celebrating our 10th year in business. Our work includes custom bathroom and kitchen renovations, additions and new builds. Our team of professionals will guide you through your project from initial design to execution.

Why renovate? Our clients renovate for many reasons. More space, improved efficiency or updating old rooms. In today’s real estate market, people are finding it makes more sense, all things considered, to stay and upgrade their current home to their liking instead of trying to find what they want in the real estate market.

What should clients consider when starting a renovation? Clients should always hire a professional contractor or tradesman when undertaking any renovation work, large or small. A professional will only work with a signed contract, carry all the necessary licenses, insurances and will stand by their work.

Tell us about your company: JWA is a small professional architecture firm focusing on custom residences and smaller commercial and institutional projects. Our founding principles are simple: provide thoughtful design, complete documentation and a high level of personal service to our clients. Look at our portfolio and you will notice diversity in architectural style, scale and budget.

How do you approach the design process with each client? We value a good fit between client, project and architect, so one-on-one meetings are the beginning to learn as much as we can about our clients’ goals. Building today is complex, and navigating the process is challenging. We tailor our services to meet our client’s requirements, whether they be basic services or full services that range from creative concepts to obtaining permits, interior design, selecting contractors and remaining involved during construction.

Advice to clients starting a project? The process takes time! Design, budgeting, construction documents, permits, interiors, contractor bidding/award and finally construction – it’s an involved process so plan accordingly.

MAUREEN BARNES of The Millionaire’s DaughterMAUREEN BARNES

Tell us about The Millionaire’s Daughter: The Millionaire’s Daughter is a mid- to high-end furniture and décor consignment business with four retail locations throughout Southern Ontario – Hamilton, Oakville, Aurora and Kitchener. Whether you’re downsizing, renovating, moving or just looking to change your interior décor, buying and selling on consignment makes perfect sense!

Why buy or sell previously loved pieces instead of going new? Previously loved items offer a lot of quality and value. Many of the pieces are true originals and help create a unique, one-of-a-kind space.

What favourites or unique pieces have you come across? At the Hamilton store, we received a five-foot-tall concrete fountain. We had to reinforce the floor! We’ve also welcomed an Asian wedding bed and original carousel horses.
