DIY Gold Dipped Patio Pots

April 29, 2015 | STORY BY TARA CHATTELL | PHOTOGRAPHY BY TARA CHATTELL

Get started on your outdoor season by preparing painted pots.

Add some bright colour and posh style to your patio this season with these painted planter pots. You can easily achieve that “dipped” look without using a ton of paint.

DIY Painted Pots

Materials:

Terra Cotta Pot
Multi Surface Craft Paint (in gold as well as the colours you choose)
Foam Paintbrush
Plastic Container

Project Instructions:

Step 1: Cover your work surface with newspaper
Step 2: Paint all your pots with at least two coats of paint and allow to dry overnight.
Step 3: Heavily coat your foam brush in gold paint and begin painting a stripe around the bottom of each pot. Hold your pot over a plastic container as you paint the gold stripe, to catch the access paint. By using lots of paint and allowing it to run off the bottom of the pot, you will achieve the “dipped” affect you desire. Allow to dry.
Step 4: Once your pots have dried thoroughly, they’re ready for plants!
