Seeking a quiet lakeside retreat, this young family happened upon a home that was “a bit too Toronto-ish” for their liking. With a little effort and some help from Judi Dusto's local connections, they were able to transform the home into their dream cottage.

Angela Jones, of Lakeshore Designs, helped the homeowners furnish and redesign the modern, urban main living areas, giving them a softer and more comfortable feel. Angela was also heavily involved in decorating the remaining rooms, including the basement living room and master bedroom. Their new cottage is large enough to host visitors, and entertain in the family-friendly recreation room that features a billiard table and bar.

A large bedroom on the main floor is furnished with bunk beds from Lockside Trading Company for the family’s six-year-old twins. The master bedroom walks out on to the front patio and enjoys a gorgeous lake view from the en suite. Easy to access from the patio, the kitchen pairs frosted cupboard doors with polished black granite countertops.

The lawn outside slopes to a sandy beach and custom boathouse, built with a flat roof to preserve the view. The homeowners are looking forward to a summer full of entertaining, and are eager to escape to their rural retreat and continue this tradition all year round.
