"Don't give orders; gain people's trust and respect and they will work with heart." These were the words passed on to an inspired Mahzad Pahlavan, of Mahzad Homes, as she set out into the business world. They are now words she lives by, and have proven to be good advice when designing custom homes and working with tradespeople.
This particular home's grey stone, elegant exterior resemebles a French-chateau style. Wrought-iron pickets border the the front steps are "like arms arms opening to welcome you," says Mahzad. The narrow lot deceives visitors, since the interior of the home is impressively spacious and inviting.
Off of the kitchen, the breakfast room's 20-foot, three-storey window frames an ancient willow tree in the yard. Mahzad describes the kitchen as "a meeting of beauty and practicality." A chevron-patterned backsplash is made of marble from Greece and a five-by-nine-foot island is topped with marble, built for entertaining.
Almost every room features a sparkling chandelier. This luxe style of the home continues into the ensuite where fixtures are inset with crystals. The master bedroom balcony allows the homeowners to wake up with a view of the outdoors. Interior Decorator, Rita Reznik, from Virez Home Interiors helped the homeowners outfit their finished home with their favourite colours and finishes.
When asked what the most exciting part of being a builder is, Mahzad responded, "Probably the day you finish and your client is walking around the house with joyful tears in their eyes." Mahzad's passion for building and design is reflected in the details and elegance of this custom home.
