Windsor's Lake St. Clair offers backdrop to rustic-industrial, boutique-hotel-meets-hunting-lodge décor.

OUR HOMES Windsor Fall 2017A version of this article originally appeared in the Fall 2017 issue of  OUR HOMES Windsor & Essex County, p.38. Find local businesses in our Windsor directory.

The views, the natural materials and the rustic warmth and charm of this home drew the new owners in. They just needed a few changes to make it their own. Jodi Mason from Urban Home jumped right into the project.

The first order of business was to redo the kitchen and family room. The home has a magnificent view of Lake St. Clair seen through floor-to-ceiling windows. Jodi furnished the family room with an oversize, extra-deep, down-filled, vintage leather sofa to accommodate the busy family. A set of multipurpose chairs in the family room swivel to face the kitchen when needed. An updated fireplace and mantel is clad in a classic limestone from Marquis Tile & Fireplaces

In the kitchen, Jodi redid the counters in black granite with caramel quartz veining. A freestanding island increases functionality and brings an industrial aspect. A rugged charcoal grey brick backsplash complements the feel. Pendant lights are from The Lighting Boutique and Appliance Shoppe.

The sitting room features a pair of ivory leather sofas with tufted backs and arms for a boutique-hotel-meets-hunting-lodge ambience. A one-of-a-kind teak root table in a warm caramel tone picks up the soft greys and caramel of the cowhide area rug.
