This Guelph home feels much larger than its 1,800 sq. ft. because of its high ceilings, eight-foot doorways and light-filled rooms. White walls and mirrors further brighten the space.
The homeowner worked closely with custom home builder Sloot Construction Ltd. to customize this newly-built home. She found her inspiration for the décor in a large Marilyn Monroe print that now hangs in the main bathroom. The print is black, white and grey – except for Marilyn’s bright pink lips.
The homeowner’s interpretation brings black, white and grey into all the rooms of the house, with touches of brighter colours in each room. The all-white open kitchen, dining and family room area (Benjamin Moore’s Decorators’ White), are at the back of the home and lead to a deck and garden landscaped by Sloot Construction. The deck runs the full width of the house.
The dark hardwood floors from Sarmazian Bros. Ltd. throughout the main floor anchor the white walls and furnishings. The master bedroom has high windows and french doors opening to the deck. The en suite bathroom has another portrait of the iconic actress over the tub. The homowner says it’s been a pleasure.
