OUR HOMES Windsor Winter 2017
With a homeowner's passion for art and the inspiration of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Style, builder Gino Piccioni of Timberland Homes and Phil Fernandes of Phillip Fernandes Custom Residential Design designed a home where “everything could be about the art.”

The home’s open floor plan, window coverings by Made to Shade and artistic expression bring a classic Prairie architectural style into the 21st century with materials and design.

Outside of the home, the exterior was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's work, incorporating stucco and stone. The look is complete with Lakeshore Landscaping's double-tiered planters.

In the kitchen, dramatic light fixtures and a ruby red glass backsplash pop against the cabinetry by Cremasco Fine Cabinetry. One-of-a-kind blown glass orbs hang above the kitchen island to complete the space. A chandelier made of hand-blown glass bowls creates an unforgettable experience in the dining area, which is separated from the great room by a floating wall and fireplace by Forest Glade Fireplaces. The floor-to-ceiling wood wall exemplifies linear lines, which are characteristic of the Prairie School style. The great room is configured to allow the art to shine, featuring a Bertoni Chairs & Things marigold leather chair, a custom designed carpet and an art wall showcasing black and white photographs of pop culture icons.

A stunning glass staircase by Bay-View Glass & Mirror Ltd. provides a modern and open feeling, cleverly showcasing the Arriscraft stonewall. The art tour continues into each bedroom. The “British invasion” room features funky Beatles posters, the master bedroom displays a number of LP record album covers designed by Andy Warhol and bedding by Beddazzle, and graffiti prints by Banksy define the guest bedroom. The en suite is equipped with stunning lighting fixtures by The Appliance Shoppe.

In a home enriched with art and passionate architectural design, these homeowners stepped outside the box to create a place fitting to their favourite quote by Roy Lichtenstein: “Art doesn’t transform, it just plain forms.”
